System Requirements

Hardware

For a single GroundWork Enterprise Server, the minimum requirements vary with the intended purpose. For short-term or evaluation systems, monitoring small numbers of nodes (i.e 50 or less), a minimal configuration will suffice:

Minimum:
  • Xeon CPU (required)
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 160 GB disk
Recommended:
  • Quad-Core Xeon class CPU
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 200 GB disk for system
  • 500 GB disk for application (no RAID’s)
Virtualization:
  • Guest running on VMware ESX 3.6 or above (recommend ESXi 5.1)
  • 64-bit Linux OS (supported distributions)
  • Single virtual CPU
  • 8 GB RAM with no computing reservation
  • 20 GB hard disk allocation, thick provisioning

System requirements for distributed systems are somewhat more complex, but in general, a single server will serve as the “parent” for all configuration data, and as the primary user interface. If you are planning a distributed system, you should read the system planning guide here for information on various architecture choices.
