How To Auto-Generate Service Groups

As 2016 winds down, we want to take a moment to give you a useful tech tip that shows you how to create service groups automatically.

Tech Tip: Auto-Generation of Service Groups

Our tech tip comes from a customer request to enable the rapid generation of service groups in GroundWork, without wasting time by clicking around the user interface every time you make an update to hosts or services. This automated API interaction creates service groups for you whenever you make a configuration change, or even from the command line if you need it to. For your reference in building your own automations, the code includes commented API calls that illustrate how to use the native automation as part of your GroundWork installation, both by querying the configuration database, and adding and deleting objects from GroundWork itself.
